The Best of Dubai’s Budget Activities
The Best of Dubai’s Budget Activities:
Dubai is known for its five-star hotels, luxury beach resorts, large shopping centres, and elegant architecture dominating the skyline, but there are many ways to travel the city on a budget with some local knowledge and an open mind. If you want to visit Dubai on your tight budget like I did, I am here to let you know about some of the best budget activities you should do while you’re there:
Pack a Picnic and take a Trip to Al Ain
Only an hour and a half’s drive from the city of Dubai is the UAE’s fourth largest city, Al Ain, also known as the Garden City due to its luscious greenery. From Al Ain, you and your family, friends or partner can pack a delicious picnic and drive up Jebel Hafeet Mountain where you can eat and admire the views. Nearby is the Al Ain Wildlife Park, a zoo in the Middle East, which costs a mere 20 AED entry for adults and 10 AED for children.
Take to the Water in an Abra
For as little as 1 AED you can take a short but pleasant 10 minute ride across Dubai Creek in an Abra, a traditional wooden boat, to the souks. Although short, the boat ride will give you a new perspective of the city, as you will be able to admire the views and contrasting elements of the old and new city from the water. Once you have reached the souks, you will be able to look around the stalls and search for a bargain or two to take home with you and put your bartering skills to good use.
Visit Dubai’s Museums
Dubai has a variety of museums for those interested in history and culture, and many of them offer entry free of charge. For example, my favorite museum I visited while I was there was the Camel Museum. At the Camel Museum, which is completely free to enter, you will have the opportunity to find out more about the camels of the Arabian Peninsula, go on an encyclopaedic journey about the animal, and find out more about the relationship they have with man.
These are just three of many budget activities available in Dubai that will not only save you money, but give you more insight into the beautiful country you are visiting.
